Art by Michele Carpenter

Meet Michele:

Michele Carpenter, also a native of McMinnville, and cousin of Shari Owens, has always loved art of any form. She first experimented with photography, at the age of 12, after receiving her first camera. Her senior year, with two Art Awards under her belt, she joined the Yearbook Staff as their only photographer. A few months after graduation, she met Josh Carpenter and wasted no time getting to know everything about him. They were married, 10 months later and moved to the Appalachian hills of Kentucky. Painting murals to help work her way through college, she graduated ten days before the birth of their first child. From there, they moved to Los Angeles, enjoying the beaches and big city life, with her husband, Josh, for 8 more years. She has entertained her artsy side, by painting, sculpting, doing makeup for Hollywood films, airbrushing and dabbling in freelance graphic arts. The homeschool mother of three, now cares for her grandmother and is elated to be back in her beloved, Tennessee, hometown.

Meet Josh:

Josh Carpenter is a Los Angeles native. Typical of his nature, he excelled at whatever he decided to as a teen. attending the Los Angeles School for Enriched Studies--only a year after Leonardo Dicaprio left those halls for the big screen. At LACES, he began a Christian Bible Club that continues to this day. Unsettled with life, in 1998, Josh moved to Tennessee at the young age of 18, seeking a new adventure and God's direction for his life. He ended up in McMinnville, Tennessee, where he met his future wife, Michele Lusk, and began exploring the world of photography. He's been hooked ever since. From there, he moved to Kentucky to attend college with his young bride--for five years. Then back to Los Angeles, the father of three young children. Last year, Josh returned to Tennessee with his family to help care for his wife's elderly grandmother and hoping to begin a small homestead--effectually quenching his desire to learn more about permaculture.

Meet Shari:

Shari Blankenship Owens was born and raised in the beautiful countryside of the Nursery Capital of the nation. Riding four-wheelers through cow pastures and romping through the woods are a part of her adventurous upbringing. She found her love for photography as a young girl. She was a member of an elite dance team called the Pioneerettes in highschool and even performed in the Macy's Parade. An athletic woman, Shari enjoys training for marathons, traveling as far as California to compete. Later, Shari accepted a teaching job there, with her young son. Driving her son to occasional Hollywood auditions became a new endeavor. He landed a modeling job for Ford at one time, but they chose to return to where the grass TRULY is greener, McMinnville, Tn. Now the mother of two beautiful children, she has been a serious photographer for over 15 years.
